Protect the phone—and yourself

A damaged battery or a wet phone needs different care than a small software problem.

Stop right away when…

  • 01The battery or back of the phone is bulging or opening.
  • 02You smell chemicals, hear hissing, see smoke, or feel extreme heat.
  • 03The phone was crushed, punctured, or badly bent.

After the phone gets wet

  • 01Unplug it and turn it off. Take off the case and dry the outside.
  • 02Do not use rice, heat, compressed air, or put anything into the charging opening.
  • 03Let it dry with normal airflow. Get help if it was under water or touched salt water.
