Texts not sending — Google Pixel

This guide is for when you HAVE signal but texts fail. If you have no signal at all, use the no-service guide instead.

  1. Check for a software update

    Go to Settings, then System, then Software update. If one is available, install it first.

  2. Check RCS

    Messages, then your profile picture, then Messages settings, then RCS chats, turn on RCS chats. RCS needs internet and can take time to verify. If it's stuck on "Setting up," turn it off and on again, or turn it off to fall back to regular texts.

  3. Check the number isn't blocked

    Messages, then three dots, then Spam and blocked, or Phone, then Blocked numbers.

  4. Toggle Airplane Mode

    On for 15 seconds, then off. This refreshes your connection.

  5. Clear the Messages cache

    Settings, then Apps, then Messages, then Storage and cache, then Clear cache. This doesn't delete your messages.

  6. Restart, then call your carrier if all texts fail

    One person failing points to their phone or number.
