Battery runs down too fast — Samsung Galaxy

Safety firstGet help if the Galaxy swells, overheats while sitting still, or the battery percentage suddenly drops by large amounts.
Use the Battery page to see what changed before assuming the battery is worn out.

  1. Check for a software update

    Open Settings > Software update > Download and install. Follow the on-screen steps if one is available.

  2. Find the biggest battery user

    Open Settings > Battery > View details. Tap an app with unusually high use and review its background activity.

  3. Limit rarely used apps

    Open Settings > Battery > Background usage limits. Turn on Put unused apps to sleep.

  4. Reduce screen use

    Open Settings > Display. Lower Brightness, then tap Screen timeout and choose 30 seconds or 1 minute.

  5. Run a battery diagnostic

    Open Samsung Members > Support > Phone diagnostics > Battery status, then run the test.
