Back up your phone and photos — Samsung Galaxy

Back up before you need it. A backup saves your photos, contacts, messages, and settings, so a lost or broken phone doesn't mean lost memories. Back up on Wi-Fi, since backups are large.
  1. Check for a software update

Go to Settings, then Software update, then Download and install. If one is available, install it first.

  2. Samsung Cloud

Settings, then Accounts and backup, then Back up data (under Samsung Cloud), choose what to back up, then Back up now.

  3. Google backup too

Settings, then Accounts and backup, then Google Drive, then Back up data, turn it on. Samsung Cloud covers Samsung apps and settings; Google covers the rest, so use both.

  4. Photos

Open Google Photos, tap your profile picture, then Photos settings, then Backup, turn on Backup (same 15 GB shared storage note). Or use Gallery sync with OneDrive if you prefer Microsoft's storage.

  5. Check it worked

Settings, then Accounts and backup shows the last backup time for Samsung Cloud and Google.
