How to block spam calls — Google Pixel

Blocking unknown callers also silences real callers not in your contacts, like a doctor's office or school. Check your voicemail regularly.
  1. Check for a software update

Go to Settings, then System, then Software update. If one is available, install it first.

  2. Block one number

Open Phone, then Recents, tap the number, then tap Block. You can also check "Report spam" before confirming, which reports the number to Google.

  3. Filter spam automatically

Open Phone, tap the three dots, then Settings, then Caller ID and spam. Turn on "See caller and spam ID" and "Filter spam calls." Suspected spam calls go to voicemail silently but still show in history.

  4. Let Google screen the call for you

Open Phone, tap the three dots, then Settings, then Spam and Call Screen (on some phones this is just called Call Screen). Turn on Call Screen and choose which calls get screened. When a suspected spam or unknown number calls, Google Assistant answers, asks who is calling and why, and shows you what they say on screen. You can tap to pick up, ask for more info, block the number, or mark it as spam. If you don't see this setting, your model doesn't have it.

  5. Let your carrier help

Call your carrier and ask about free spam blocking.

  6. Know the limit

Spammers fake real-looking numbers, so blocking one number won't stop them all. Filtering spam calls is the strongest single switch.
