Phone will not turn on — Apple iPhone
Safety firstIf the iPhone shows nothing after 20 minutes on a known-good charger and the forced restart, contact Apple Support or a trusted repair shop.
Start with a charger made for iPhone. A fully empty battery can take several minutes to show the charging symbol.
Check for danger
Do not charge the iPhone if it is swollen, wet, bent, cracked near the battery, or too hot to touch.
Use a known-good charger
Connect the iPhone directly to a working wall outlet with a cable and power adapter that charge another device. Leave it connected for 20 minutes.
Force restart an iPhone 8 or newer
Quickly press and release Volume Up. Quickly press and release Volume Down. Then hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears; this can take longer than 10 seconds.
Check whether only the screen failed
Call the iPhone from another phone. If it rings or vibrates while the screen stays black, the display may need repair.
