Phone got wet — Apple iPhone

Safety firstGet repair help after salt water, pool water, sweet drinks, long submersion, or any heat, smell, swelling, smoke, or strange behavior.
Water resistance wears down over time. Salt water and sweet drinks can cause damage after the iPhone looks dry.
  1. Unplug it and turn it off

Disconnect every cable. Open Settings > General > Shut Down and drag the slider. If touch does not work, stop pressing buttons.

  2. Remove the case and dry outside

Use a soft, lint-free cloth. Hold the Lightning or USB-C opening downward and gently tap the iPhone against your hand.

  3. Use normal airflow

Leave the iPhone in a dry place with airflow. Do not use rice, heat, compressed air, or put anything in the opening.

  4. Wait before cable charging

Do not reconnect a cable until the liquid-detection warning is gone. Apple advises allowing at least 30 minutes before the first retry; full drying can take up to 24 hours.

  5. Back up after it works normally

Open Settings > your name > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now while on Wi‑Fi and power.
