Apps keep closing by themselves — Google Pixel

Safety firstDo not clear storage or uninstall an app holding unsaved notes, recordings, sign-in codes, or game progress.
If one app has trouble, start with that app. If many apps close, check Storage first.

  1. Check for an Android update

    Open Settings > System > Software updates > System update, then tap Check for update. Follow the on-screen steps if one is available.

  2. Force stop the app

    Open Settings > Apps > See all apps > the problem app. Tap Force stop > OK, then open the app again.

  3. Update the app

    Open Play Store > your profile picture > Manage apps & device > Updates available. Tap Update beside the app.

  4. Clear only the temporary cache

    Open Settings > Apps > See all apps > the app > Storage & cache > Clear cache. Do not tap Clear storage unless the app is backed up.

  5. Check free space

    Open Settings > Storage. Remove only downloads or apps you can restore.
