Phone is getting too hot — Google Pixel

Safety firstIf the Pixel stays very hot while idle, swells, smells strange, hisses, or smokes, stop using it and get help.
Games, maps, video calls, updates, and fast charging can make a Pixel warm. Too hot to hold, swelling, or a chemical smell is not normal.
  1. Check for an Android update

If the phone is hot or shows a temperature warning, unplug it and let it cool to room temperature before starting the update. Open Settings > System > Software updates > System update, then tap Check for update. Follow the on-screen steps if one is available.

  2. Stop the heavy task

Unplug the Pixel. Swipe up from the bottom, hold, then swipe the game, Maps, or video app up to close it.

  3. Move it and remove the case

Take it out of direct sun, remove the case, and set it on a hard surface at room temperature.

  4. Let it cool slowly

Do not use ice, a refrigerator, or a freezer. Wait until the heat warning disappears.

  5. Restart after it cools

Hold Power and Volume Up, then tap Restart.
