Wi‑Fi will not connect — Apple iPhone

Safety firstDo not erase the iPhone because one Wi‑Fi network fails. If every device fails, contact the internet provider.
First notice whether the iPhone cannot join Wi‑Fi, or joins but says there is no internet.
  1. Check for an iOS update

If you can use another working Wi‑Fi network, check for an update first. If the phone cannot connect to any Wi‑Fi network, continue to the next step. Open Settings > General > Software Update. If an update is available, tap Update Now and follow the on-screen steps.

  2. Refresh Wi‑Fi

Open Settings > Wi‑Fi. Turn Wi‑Fi off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it on.

  3. Forget and rejoin

In Settings > Wi‑Fi, tap the information button beside the network, tap Forget This Network, then tap Forget. Choose the network again and enter its password.

  4. Restart the iPhone

Open Settings > General > Shut Down. Drag the slider, wait 30 seconds, then hold the Side button.

  5. Restart the internet box

Unplug the modem or router for 30 seconds. Plug it in and wait for its normal lights to return.

  6. Temporarily test without a VPN

Open Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > VPN. Turn the VPN off, test Wi‑Fi, then turn it back on if it was not the cause.
