Phone is slow or stuck — Apple iPhone

Safety firstBack up important information before any reset. If the iPhone freezes after every restart, contact Apple or a repair shop.
An iPhone with almost no free space can become slow, fail to update, and close apps.

  1. Choose the right first step

    If the iPhone is completely frozen, quickly press and release Volume Up, quickly press and release Volume Down, then hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears. If it still responds but is slow, open Settings > General > Software Update and install an available update first.

  2. Check exact free space

    Open Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Wait for the colored bar to finish loading. Follow a recommendation only if you understand what it removes.

  3. Remove a recent problem app

    Open Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Tap the app added just before the trouble began, then tap Delete App and confirm only if its information is safely backed up.
